I draw inspiration from the places I lived throughout the midwest and it’s ever changing urban and rural landscape. The climate emergency and our ability or inability to adapt. I've used my own butterfly stencils for over twenty-five years. The butterfly stencil is a rather universal symbol of change and hope; I like to also include adaption, love, mystery, danger and fear. Sometimes I strive for the butterflies to have all these elements like the human experience. The butterfly stencils and colors are carefully considered and crafted to conjure these intended effects. Recently, I've been creating more abstract landscapes and images.

I grew up watching my father paint in the studio almost everyday of the week. I'm most influenced by his work and philosophy regarding art making.
